Dear Pastor,
Greetings in the most precious name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
It is so nice to know you through Bloggers profile .As I was going through profiles of the people whose interest is in God, I came to know about you and your interet in several other things too.. I am also glad to know about your church . About me I am also in the Pastoral ministry in the great city of Mumbai, India with a population of 18 million of which half of the population living in the slums and those who live in the slums are the people who live with bare minimum, poverty stricken, oppressed and marginalised. The Lord has given us burden to reach out to such people with the love of Christ through mercy ministries and give them new hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. We encourage young people from the West to come on a short term missions trip to work with us. So far many young people from the west irrespective of their denominational background have come and helped us in the outreach work in the slum. Their investment in terms of money, resources and time has never been a waste rather gave them a life changing experience. I will appreciate if you could pray for our ministry and its needs. It would be great if you as a Pastor could think of coming to Mumbai to work with us. We can arrange meetings of the Pastor in Mumbai and you can conduct Seminars on the topic that is of your interest. You could also encourage your friends and young people from your church who are interested in missions to consider coming on a short term missions trip to Mumbai to work with us.Looking forward to hear from you very soon.
Sincerely in Jesus,
Pastor Diwakar Wankhede

Spreading the Gospel Through Electronic Technology
It is an exciting time in which we live, especially exciting in how fast electronic technology is changing. Staying abreast of all the changes is quite a challenge.
I attended the "Weaving a Web of Connections" Seminar, presented by United Methodist Communicatons back in the Spring of 2009. Since then, my head has been spinning with ideas about how we at Christ of the Hills United Methodist Church (COHUMC) can use internet technology for effective ministry. The possibilities are endless.
For the past 5 years, I have been web master at COHUMC, designing, creating, maintaining our web site, http://cohumc.com/ . Please check it out. I am lucky in that I have a person who adds the audio (sermons, music) to our site and another person who keeps our calendar and newsletters (Ringers) updated. The rest is "my baby." Even though I attended the UMC seminar and was full of ideas, since I was working as a volunteer, I didn't have energy any longer to follow through with and implement them.
I'm thrilled to say that on February 16, 2010, a new Staff postion was created and I was made Web Minister and Communications Coordinator. Since then I can't implement processes fast enough and my mind has been going crazy about what to do next.
I owe you a little information about COHUMC. COHUMC has a membership of approximately 1000, average ages 60-70. We have a few couples younger than that, but only a few children. Needless to say, the children we do get a lot of attention and love. We do have a "children's sermon" each Sunday with an average of 2-3 children participating. We live in a gated community with golf courses, lakes, tennis courts everywhere, so you see are demographics are unique.
We have 2 Services on Sunday, the 8:50 a.m. Service is a traditional Service and the 10:30 a.m. Service is called "Hillsong," and it is more informal, not contemporary, but informal. Then we have a Wednesday evening Communion Service at 5:15 p.m. followed by dinner and a program.
Since I have this "official" position now, my focus along with my newly formed Web Ministry team is to first use internet technology to get our membership involved. For instance, some of our members have never looked at our web page, so that's the first problem we need to solve. We need to give them a reason to go there for information. We have members who do not yet have a computer. It's difficult for me to imagine that since in my view, they are missing so much by not participating. By their not having an e-mail address, they, actually, are causing more work for people who need to send mass mailings in that they either have to telephone or fax them the information.
My Web Ministry team and I are having our "kick-off" meeting next week to brainstorm ideas about how to tackle our main problem of getting our folks involved in this ever-changing, exciting electronic technology. I'll let you know how that goes.
